HR Director, £60k + Benefits, Newcastle upon Tyne


Edward Reed is looking for an experienced HR Director to join our clients senior leadership team at a time of high growth and significant change.

This is a new role working for one of the UK’s leading specialist manufacturers, a multi-site operation which is headquartered from the Northeast.

The successful candidate will understand business strategy, goals and priorities, talent risks and industry trends, to assess needs and barriers in order to drive business performance through development and delivery of people strategy and solutions.

The HR Director is part of the organisation’s leadership team, reports into the CEO and collaborates closely with the Operations Director.

The position requires a strategic thinker with experience of scaling up and professionalising HR functions. The role has overall accountability for back-office process infrastructure, ensuring effective processes, compliance and scalability. The employee end-to-end journey lies at the heart, starting with recruitment and onboarding, then professional development and with a focus on retention

HR Director Responsibilities:

  • Leadership experience at senior management level and with supporting and advising on HR and People related topics;
  • Ensuring the implementation of effective HR policies, principles, and standardised processes, including tools and templates;
  • Advise on compliance and risk management issues;
  • Identify areas of organisational development & lead organizational structure changes;
  • Oversee integrating structures and cultures with knowledge of TUPE legislation;
  • Being accountable to and up to date on relevant employment-related laws and regulations;

HR Director Requirements:

  • Suitably qualified HR professional (CIPD)
  • A deep understanding of HR principles and best practice in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Leadership Development, People Engagement and HR Process
  • Commercially aware, with a focus on creating and delivering pragmatic solutions to business issues
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience;
  • The ability to effectively communicate and instil confidence with the leadership team, peers and all key stakeholders;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
