The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre manufacturing operations professional. As Manufacturing Operations Director you will have full site P&L responsibility and be tasked with the commissioning of a green-field site and to achieve production of 3,000 units per annum within 3 years.

Reporting directly to the CEO, specific responsibilities will include:

  • work with the Board to implement the overall business strategy
  • devise and implement a manufacturing strategy
  • commission a green-field factory on time & within budget
  • recruitment, management and development of operational staff across production, engineering, procurement, logistics and on-site support services to facilitate rapid and profitable scale-up
  • manufacturing systems implementation including S&OP
  • implement a comprehensive operational excellence programme (Lean / Agile)
  • ensure all quality, cost and customer service metrics are achieved
  • develop resilient partnerships across the supply chain
  • site Health & Safety and security

Requirements of the Role

  • professionally qualified (technical degree / CEng ) and highly experienced manufacturing operations professional
  • ideally, previous successful experience of commissioning and scale up of a new manufacturing facility
  • proven leadership and results in a medium/large manufacturing business
  • financially astute with entrepreneurial flair
  • self-motivated individual with strong analytical, negotiation, communication, presentation, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • naturally tenacious, driven by business success
  • ability to quickly analyse complex situations and be an effective problem solver, whilst operating a results-focussed, professional and well organised approach.
