About D-Line

D-Line (Europe) Limited, based in North Shields, is a world-class producer of innovative cable management products that are sold via DIY retailers, E-commerce partners and distributors in 30+ countries. They have a subsidiary, D-Line USA Inc, based in Louisville

The business has a very progressive culture, and in recent years D-Line consolidated sales have grown 20% annually. This year, sales will be c£14m and the forecast is for further growth

They now seek to appoint an experienced Operations Director to drive forward the Production (pick & pack), Quality Management, Supply Chain, Customer Service & Logistics functions, in ways that efficiently support sales ambitions

 

The role

Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Finance Director, Export Sales Director, Digital Sales Director and the US General Manager, leading at team of 50+

To ensure, through management of manufacturing, supply chain and customer service teams, that the business provides outstanding customer service and product quality in a manner that optimises operational efficiency

To develop & ensure full operational compliance with the company’s environmental, quality, and health & safety obligations

To play an active role, as part of the senior management team, in enabling D-Line to achieve its long-term growth and profitability targets

Specifically:

  • Develop a continuous improvement culture, ensuring strong efficiency and quality performance in delivery against manufacturing plan, positive and effective relationships with all raw material and finished goods suppliers, and excellent communications with all customers
  • Manage the company’s Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) processes to ensure that stock levels in the business are consistent with both customer service and financial (cash management) objectives
  • Play an active role in the senior management team, working with the MD and other team members to ensure the business continues to grow and meet its sales and profitability targets
  • To liaise with the general manager of D-Line’s USA operation to ensure an effective working relationship in group-wide operations

 

The Person

 

In depth experience and proven success in managing and motivating manufacturing (assembly and dispatch), supply chain and customer service teams ideally in a fast-moving (consumer durables / FMCG) international (export) environment

 

Experience of managing a demanding customer-centric DC supply chain system to ensure the required quantity of the right product in the right place at the right time

 

Strong commercial acumen & negotiating skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with key suppliers

 

In depth experience of MRP systems

 

A commitment to continuous improvement

 

Strong leadership skills and modern management techniques combined with a desire to be part of a successful & entrepreneurial team

 

Comfortable in, and able to bring further professional discipline to, an entrepreneurial and fast-growing business.
