Project Manager, up to £50,000 DOE, Manchester

Reporting to – Engineering Director


Objective of the Position


The project manager’s role is to co-ordinate projects from point of sale through to delivery and beyond. They will be responsible for a wide array of tasks which include interpreting requirements set out by the sales team, then overseeing the design, procurement, build, programming, commissioning, and installation phases. Project engineers must ensure that the working designs are in line with general company standards and relevant safety criteria. There must be a consideration for economical manufacture, fulfilling the design intent, and providing high levels of utilisation. Solutions must also allow effective service / maintenance, and provide customers with products that meet their demands and integrate into their workplace.

Primary Duties


  • Provide technical support for the sales team when constructing estimates and quotes
  • Interact with sales team to establish requirements for new projects
  • Work with engineering management and departmental heads to generate workable project schedules
  • Provide a primary point of contact for our customers during project development
  • Help to define, then manage project quality control processes
  • Work together with other members of the engineering team to prepare all necessary calculations, sketches, and supporting information for initiation of project design phase
  • Oversee both mechanical and electrical design of projects to ensure products exceed customer expectations and that deadlines are met
  • Communicate with purchasing to prioritise material procurement
  • Communicate with manufacturing to plan build phase
  • Oversee development of machine control software (PLC, HMI, safety relays, etc…) and validation plans
  • Oversee system commissioning and validation
  • Oversee customer acceptance trials
  • Communicate with logistics team to co-ordinate machinery packing and shipment
  • Compile / support development of machinery documentation
  • Co-ordinate machine installation and final site acceptance
  • Co-ordinate site modifications / alterations / repairs
  • Provide technical backup for machines in warranty period
  • Provide technical backup for service engineers out in the field
